This Incredible Device Tracks Your Contractions, Because the Future Is Now

Anyone who's gone through a pregnancy knows that no matter how much planning you do, there's always something that's totally unexpected — like your first contractions. But that might change thanks to a new device made for pregnant women to track their contractions — and know whether it's actual labor or not.

Showcased at this year's Consumer Electronic Show, Bloomlife is a pregnancy wearable company that wants to make it easier for women to know if any contraction they feel is worth rushing to the hospital for. By simply sticking a patch with a sensor on it to your belly, you can see real-time data on the Bloomlife app that will clue you in to what your contractions mean. The app also tracks the "frequency, duration, and time between contractions" so that when you make a call to your doctor, you can tell them exactly what's happening. If you want to nerd out on the data, you can also take a look at the trends feature on the app to see your previous "contraction patterns."

The best part of Bloomlife is that it works on a rental basis. Choose when you want to receive it, and then pay $149 for the first month you have it. Or, you can pick to have it for two months and pay $249, or $299 for three months.

It's definitely not on the cheap end, but if Bloomlife will make you rest easier when you feel a contraction, it might be worth the investment.
