It might have taken us all a little while to get used to this Snapchat-style addition to the app, but now around 400 million of us use it every day to share our lives.

With Instagram's algorithm change and shadow banning rumors, Stories has become much more than just a fun video platform for some. For influencers, it became the main way to get more followers, connect with their audiences, and share new exciting content in a really simple way. Why GIFs Are So Important

Why GIFs Are So Important

How did we ever live in a world without GIFs? How did we share our emotions or feelings without these little moving words and pictures? GIFs are fun and easy but have a big impact, and they can really skyrocket your Insta game. Using GIFs on your Stories let's you get across your personality and humor, which can also connect you more with your audience.

If you've never tapped into the GIF feature on Instagram before, don't worry, we'll show you how. Add your image or video to your Story, then swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or click the little icon that looks like a sticker with a smiley face on it), and you will see a frosted panel cover most of your image or video. In the panel, there will be a search box at the top, and all you have to do is type a term ("Summer" or "funny," for example) and all the GIFs relating to that word will appear. You can be as specific or generic with your searching as you like. Click the GIF you want, and it will appear in your story. You add as many as you like, and play around with sizing and placement, too.

Make Music Playlists

Make Music Playlists

With Instagram's newest Story feature, you can embed music into your stories, and your followers will be able to see the name of the song and the artist. This feature is great if you want to add music to your videos, but it's also really good for making and curating playlists for all the people who watch your stories as well. Maybe make a throwback playlist once a month, a workout playlist, or even share your favorite new songs every week — the possibilities are endless, and it's a fun feature to use.

To get started, add your video or image to your story, then swipe up from the bottom of your screen. You will see the word "music" — click it, and up pops a box where you can search for songs or scroll through the ones that Instagram has already picked out for you. Once you've decided on a song, click it, and it will appear in your Story. You can make the song box big or small and move it around the screen, too.
