Amazon's New Dash Button Is So Genius, It's Stupid

If you thought Amazon's new Home Services feature was a gift to lazy people everywhere, you were so wrong. The company recently unveiled a new product called the Amazon Dash Button. It's a real, literal button that you attach to your favorite home products in the kitchen, bathroom, etc., and push when you are running low. "Place it. Press it. Get it," is the tagline, and it's now available for all Prime members (previously, you had to request an invite). The price? $5 but you get that money back after your first button purchase, so it's essentially free.

Here's exactly how it works: On Amazon's website, set up the button so that it orders certain items once you push it. You'll see an alert on your phone to confirm or cancel the order in case you accidentally press it or have curious kids in the house. Amazon will then send the household items to your door using Prime shipping. Currently, Amazon Dash is working with 29 brands — including Tide, L'Oreal, Gillette, Huggies, Orbit Gum, Clorox, Hefty Trash Bags, and Bounty — and is offering more than 500 products. See what it looks like ahead.
