Jawbone UP24 and UP 3.0 App
The company recently announced the launch of UP24 ($150), which introduces the ability to sync data wirelessly to your phone rather than having to plug the band into the device's headphone jack. In terms of tech, the Bluetooth Smart-enabled, over-the-air connection is the only new feature. Wireless syncing will allow users to see their activity data in real time and receive live notifications of their progress.
Because of the UP24's ability to constantly update, the new band's battery life has been reduced from up to 10 days in the previous generation to up to seven days.
In terms of hardware, Jawbone swapped the band's original wave pattern for curved, sweeping lines. Photos on the site show a parallel line design as well, but that pattern does not seem to be available for purchase yet.
The UP24 band (compatible with iOS devices only, at least for now) is available now in onyx and persimmon at Jawbone.com, and at Apple stores and Best Buy starting Nov. 19.
The UP by Jawbone iOS app (free) has also been updated. Today I Will is a new feature that creates bite-size challenges based on your unique data to help you make progress in three categories: sleep, steps, and drinking water. The new app, which is compatible with both the UP and UP24, will also estimate sleep when you forget to put your band into sleep mode.
