Enjoy the Sweet Satisfaction of Stephen Hawking Schooling Piers Morgan on Gender Inequality

Piers Morgan, the British journalist who described Women's March participants as "rabid feminists," attempted to prove the absence of gender inequality during a recent interview with Stephen Hawking. It didn't exactly transpire as the host might have wanted.

On March 20, Morgan interviewed the world-renowned professor on Good Morning Britain. Morgan listed all the women who hold high-profile positions in the British government in an attempt to prove that gender inequality doesn't exist. "Is this the clearest scientific evidence we've had yet of gender equality?" Morgan asked Hawking.

Pushing back on Morgan's query, Hawking responded that evidence is insufficient in this case: "It is not scientific proof of gender equality that is required, but general acceptance that women are at least the equals of men . . . or better."

"If we factor in high-power women in Europe as well, such as Angela Merkel, it seems we are witnessing a seismic shift for women to accede to high-level positions in politics and society," Hawking continued. "But there may still be a gap between those women achieving high public status and those in the private sector. I welcome these signs of women's liberation."

As if Morgan simply wants to get schooled, he then inquired whether Hawking considers himself a feminist. "Yes," Hawking responded. "I have always supported women's rights. I moved the admission of women to my college, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge."

Hawking also commented on the current political climate globally and speculated about whether he would be allowed to even enter the United States. "I fear that I may not be welcomed in Trump's America," Hawking confessed.
