This Brilliant 9-Year-Old Used His Smartwatch to Escape His Kidnapper

Although the question of how much technology children should have access to is a constant parenting debate, a brave 9-year-old boy just proved that it can be a life-saver. Using a smartwatch with built-in GPS, Aiden of Saratoga Springs, UT, was able to call his parents from across town in the midst of an alleged kidnapping.

Aiden was walking to a friend's apartment in his neighborhood when he says a man got out of his car and charged him, throwing him into the backseat after he tripped and fell trying to run away. When the man stopped his car in a grocery store parking lot a few blocks away, Aiden jumped from the SUV and sprained his ankle. "My family is more important than breaking a bone," he told FOX News. "He started following me, I hid behind a dumpster."

That's when he turned to his Gizmo Watch — which allows kids to make and receive calls from up to four people — to make the life-saving phone call. After his stepfather answered, Aiden was safely back at home with his family within minutes. Police are taking Aiden's story seriously and are still searching for suspects, and the clever boy is urging parents to buy their kids a smartwatch.
