Google Wants to Make It Easier For You to Test Beauty Products Virtually Before You Buy

We've reached the point where a lot of us have spent more time in our beds and on our couches than anywhere else this year, and as a result, online shopping has been at an all-time high. But as much as we praise online shopping for its convenience, shopping for beauty products in particular is an experience that's way easier when done in person. With many retailers pulling in-store makeup testers and samples for sanitary reasons, figuring out how something might look on you has become tricky territory. Google seems to understand this, too, which is why the tech giant is pulling something special out of its back pocket to make your at-home beauty shopping experience less of a pain.

Google just announced its partnership with ModiFace and Perfect Corp to launch a tool that helps you virtually test out makeup before you buy it. Starting Dec. 17, customers shopping from brands like L'Oréal, MAC, Black Opal, and Charlotte Tilbury will be able to compare specific shades of lipstick, eyeshadow, and more against their skin tone to ensure they can find a perfect match before they purchase. To use it, all you have to do is open or download the Google app and search from a range of products you'd like to try on.

For example, you can type items like L'Oréal Infallible Paints Metallic Eyeshadow, Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment, and MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick into the search bar to see how it looks against your skin tone. Underneath each product photo, you can also press the "try it on" button, which will then open your front-facing camera for you to virtually try on each color yourself. You can also search the beauty reviews from other people to see how they like an individual product.
