Take a good hard look at this seemingly innocent photo and see if you can figure out just how many number 8s you see. Go ahead. Look at it. Your options are four, five, seven, or nine, as the photo shows, so if the first time you count you get something other than that, sorry, try again.
A quick scroll through the Instagram comments seems to have people torn between choosing five or nine, so let's see if we can't figure it out for ourselves. If you don't want the answer, we advise that you leave now. But you can play with this triangle brain teaser [3] on your way out.
OK, brainiacs, let's look at this jumble of numbers [5]. You can count the first four pretty easily. You'll get the fifth one if you put the bottom half of the top 8 with the top half of the bottom 8. Now we've got five, which is where a lot of people seem to stop.
But wait, there's more!
Turn the graphic on its side and you can count four more 8s in the middle section. Because there are no rules saying you can't turn the graphic, we're going to say that nine number 8s is the correct answer. Have you stared at the graphic long enough [6] to see the answer? Or do you think it's something different? We'd love to hear your interpretation, though we're sticking with nine as the right answer.
