Americans Prefer Darth Vader Over Every Presidential Candidate

The Dark Side, it seems, has taken over the US. The Washington Post's Wonkblog hilariously pitted the favorability ratings of Star Wars characters against just about all the potential 2016 presidential candidates.

Apparently, Americans think so low of their politicians that they prefer Darth Vader, ruthless ruler of the Galactic Empire, to the lead runner for the White House, Hillary Clinton — by about 6 percentage points. He chopped off his own son's hand, people!

On CNN's Fareed Zakaria GPS, Hilary said that Anakin isn't her favorite: "Darth would not be my choice, but, you know, somebody, perhaps a slightly more positive attitude in his presentation ... to come in and just fix it. You know, we just get sick of it. But that's the price of democracy."

Why do Americans dislike Congress so much? Hillary put it this way: "People get frustrated. And people are just so fed up with the gridlock and dysfunction in Washington. The Congress is just, you know, so, unfortunately, unable to even agree on the most obvious kinds of matters, that I think, you know, Darth Vader looks pretty good to a lot of people."

The Star Wars ratings came from the number wizards at FiveThirtyEight. The results found that Luke was the audience's favorite with an outstanding 93 percent favorable rating and that Jar Jar Binks was their least favorite, with an abysmal 29 percent.

With a new movie on the horizon and a Comic-Con exclusive life-size Hot Wheels Corvette in his name, Darth Vader's popularity is only on the rise. You've got your work cut out for you, Congress. Source: Wonkblog; Front Page
