15 Headphones You Won't Regret Spending Any Money On

Dec 26 2016 - 3:45pm

Getting through the work day is no easy feat [1] but at least most of us get to zone out, put on headphones, and chug through. Picking the right headphones is tough, though, seeing as there are hundreds out there. We all know that making the right headphone choice is definitely important, as there are earrings and comfort levels to think about. We asked people at POPSUGAR what their favorites are and rounded them up for you, so you already know they are tested and approved by our ears (and hopefully yours, too, in the future)!

The headphones: "Taylor" Rose Gold Headphones, Rose Gold and White Leather Detail [4] ($200)
The why: "I've had a ton of headphones in my day, and honestly, the classic iPhone earbuds do the trick for me on my commutes back and forth to work. When I'm listening to music all day, though, I wear my over-the-ear Frends 'Taylor' headphones in rose gold. They're beautiful, the sound is awesome, and they don't hurt the top of my head or squeeze my ears too tight. They fold up really small and you can change out the discs on the ears to change up your look, making them both practical and fashionable." — Alessia Santoro, assistant editor, Moms

The headphones: Jabra MOVE Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Headphones [5] ($70, originally $100)
The why: "These bluetooth wireless ones are great for work. They're wireless, noise-canceling, have a long battery life and a rechargeable battery, and are lightweight." — Peter Feytser, product manager

The headphones: Master Tracks XC, Studio Tuned by Calvin Harris [6] ($250)
The why: "The sound is so smooth and really immerses you. Plus, they are great for traveling!" — Christen Nino De Guzman, community and marketing coordinator

The headphones: FRENDS "Layla" Rose Gold Headphones, Rose Gold and White Leather Detail [7] ($150)
The why: "I love these. They are smaller so they don't look crazy big on my small head and they have good sound quality. They are also easily foldable and perfectly small enough to fit in your bag without taking up too much space. SUPER AFFORDABLE!" — Zareen Siddiqui, audience development associate

The headphones: Jam Transit Bluetooth Headphones [8] ($50)
The why: "I use these every day on my walking commute. I love that I don't have to tangle myself in the cords." — Patrick McDougle, software engineer

The headphones: Mo-Fi [9] ($319, originally $350)
The why: "Coolest part about them is the built-in amp — you need to charge them to use it, but if they're dead you, can roll passive like normal headphones. The amp has two settings: "normal" which is "flat response," meaning it reproduces the different frequency ranges and their respective amplitudes just as the final recording was intended to sound; and a "bass" mode, which does exactly what you think and is awesome if you're feeling in need of some extra oomph." — Matt Topolski, devops engineer

The headphones: Skullcandy Smokin' Buds 2 Earbuds With Microphone [10] ($20)
The why: "I wear earbuds for many, many hours each day — on my commute and at work. Earbuds are great because they travel well and I can throw them in my pocket or a bag, and not worry about the space that headphones consume. This inexpensive brand is awesome because it has decent sound, a little microphone, and a play/pause toggle button.

Frequent use also means unplugging and plugging quite a lot, changing from mobile to laptop and back several times a day, and this puts a lot of wear on the earbud connection. So, I decided to embrace the fact that I'll probably need a new set every few months, and the about-$20 price point is perfect for replacement." — Julie Driscoll, front-end software engineer

The headphones: Backbeat Pro [11] ($250)
The why: "Best wireless over-ear noise-canceling headphones!" — Jason Martin, senior front-end engineer

The headphones: Sony 15AP In-Ear Headphones [12] ($15)
The why: "I'm OBSESSED with my Sony earbuds! I'm very particular about how headphones fit in my ears, and the free ones that come with Apple products never seem to fit quite right. These are a perfect fit and they never slip out on the off chance that I actually go for a run. Plus, they're always super discounted at Ross or TJ Maxx for $4-5!" — Victoria Messina, editorial intern

The headphones: Powerbeats2 Wireless Earphones [13] ($200)
The why: "The sound is incredible and they stay on your ear with the little wraparound feature. They're also a good color, wireless, and held up during my half marathon, and the sweat and moisture didn't screw them up." — Dominique Astorino, assistant editor, Fitness

The headphones: Panasonic ErgoFit Best in Class In-Ear Earbud Headphones [14] ($9, originally $29)
The why: "I like these because they're cheap and I don't have to worry about losing them (I lose three to four a year). Sounds pretty good too." — Amir Pars, software engineer

The headphones: Skullcandy Knockout [15] ($100)
The why: "I have a lot of piercings on my ears, so I need headphones that have enough cushion where they don't press against them too badly. These are perfect! They are comfortable, can withstand a lot of wear and tear (I say this because they've been dropped a lot), and come with volume controls." — Ann-Marie Alcántara, assistant editor, Tech

The headphones: QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones [16] ($350)
The why: "These over-ear headphones are super comfortable and lightweight. I listen to music all day at work, and it sounds better on these than any other brand I've tried. Plus, they are wireless, which keeps my desk neat and detangled, and the noise-canceling abilities mean I can block out distractions." — Nancy Einhart, VP and executive editor

The headphones: Molami's Stitch Earbuds [17] ($49)
The why: "Not only are they super stylish (can't ever go wrong with a black/gold or white/copper combo), but they're one of the most comfortable earbuds I've ever used. Thanks to their angled shape, I can wear them for hours at my desk or working out and they never hurt my ears like the generic Apple ones do." — Lisette Mejia, editor, News

The headphones: Caeden Linea Nº1 [18] ($150)
The why: "They are so handsome in the white with rose gold; they truly glam up my look. And the sound is super crisp. Utility meets style!" — Ricki Rubin, senior merchant
