PSA: Amazon Prime's Monthly Fees Are Going Up

Amazon Prime is officially going to get more expensive for monthly subscribers. The company is increasing the price from $10.99 to $12.99 a month, according to TechCrunch, which would make the total at the end of the year $156. So, if you were thinking of getting a Prime subscription, it's ultimately going to be cheaper to sign up for the annual membership — that's going to remain at the same price.

The company is also bumping its student pricing by 18 percent, with the cost increasing from $5.49 to $6.49 — but the yearly fee will stay at $49. The new pricing will start on Jan. 19 for new members, while existing ones will see the increase on the first renewal payment after Feb. 18.
