Billie Lourd's Star Wars Nails Are a Nod to Her Mom, Carrie Fisher

From her hair to her nails, Billie Lourd was giving "space princess" at her late mother Carrie Fisher's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on May 4, also known as Star Wars Day. In addition to wearing a dress printed with a still of Fisher in her Princess Leia costume, Lourd paid tribute to her mom with a Star Wars–inspired manicure. Complete with nods to the space opera franchise, every nail looked like a window into a galaxy far, far away.

Lourd's intricate manicure featured a set of twinkling white stars painted against a black backdrop. An extra coat of glossy clear polish over the top gave each nail even more shine. On Lourd's right middle finger, her nail artist, Diem Truong, added an extra special nod to Fisher: a miniature portrait of Princess Leia Organa, including her signature space bun hairstyle. On her left hand, Lourd complemented the accent nail with the symbol of the rebel alliance, a galactic organization led by Princess Leia and dedicated to ending the Empire's tyranny. As far as badass shout-outs go, we have a feeling Fisher would have been a big fan of Lourd's manicure.

Drawing more attention to her hands, Lourd wore an iridescent blue ring that beautifully contrasted her wedding ring. She completed her look with sequin eyeshadow and a 2000s-inspired hairstyle, middle part included.

The ceremony comes just a few months after Lourd posted a tribute to Fisher on Instagram. "My Momby would have been 66 today," she captioned a photo of her mom holding her as a child. The image featured Lourd and Fisher staring up at the camera as they cuddled on the floor. Lourd continued, "You can never be an expert in grief. It is forever changing — the ultimate shape shifter. And you never feel like you know exactly what to do or feel. And that's okay. Whatever you feel is okay."
